Ireland is a small island, but it packs a very big punch. Consisting of a central plain surrounded by mountains and hills, Ireland offers tourists some of the most assorted and untarnished scenery in all of Europe. Not only does it offer gently rolling, green hills, but you will find quiet sandy beaches, semi-tropical bays, and rocky cliffs, as well.
Ireland is thought to have been inhabited since about 6000 BC, by a mid-Stone Age people. About 4,000 years later, European tribes established a Neolithic culture. The best known of these Neolithic sites in Ireland are found in County Meath, where you will find a megalithic passage tombs. Older than Stonehenge, or the Pyramids of Giza, Newgrange and Knowth are two of these sites.
You can find a number of horse riding facilities all over the country, as Equestrianism is a favorite tourist attraction in Ireland. The picturesque, sparsely populated countryside is also ideal for walkers. Because of Ireland?s mild climate, the mountains are accessible all year long, making hiking another pet pastime. Cycling, too, is quite popular in this quaint little country. The beautiful valleys and gently undulating plain make cycling a perfect way to explore the countryside. Fishermen love Ireland as well. With miles of rivers and streams, as well as an extensive coastline, there is no closed season for angling.
Golfing is certainly a tourist favorite, and with the Golfing Union of Ireland running nearly 350 golf courses, lots of people come to Ireland just to golf. Surprisingly enough, 80 million people, worldwide, claim Irish heritage. That makes genealogy quite popular in Ireland. Genealogical centers are to be found everywhere, and the staff will help trace your family history.
Ireland?s capital city of Dublin is quite lively. Dublin was home to writers such as Joyce, Yeats, Beckett, and Shaw. The famous Guinness Brewery, which was founded in 1759, is found here, as well. It?s best to tour Dublin on foot, and some particular favorites include St. Patrick?s Cathedral, Christ Church, the Temple Bar district, Phoenix Park, Whitefriar Street Carmelites, and St. Isolde?s Tower. And don?t miss the Literary Pub Crawl on Grafton Street.
Another of Ireland?s favorite cities is Cork. The second largest city in Ireland, Cork is home to the famous Ballymole House, in Shanagarry. Built into the ruins of a medieval castle in the’th century, the house is now an inn. Also, be sure to catch the Shandon Bells at Saint Anne?s Church, the Cork Harbor, and Blackrock Castle, which is currently a robotic astronomical center. Of course, you simply cannot miss kissing the Blarney Stone. Blarney Castle is just a thirty minute drive from Cork.
If you?re a nature lover, you simply must visit Donegal, and especially the Glenveagh National Park. The area is both out-of-the-way and spectacular. Founded in the 9th century by Vikings, Limerick is another tourist favorite. The area has a rich history, and the biggest concentration of castles in Ireland.
The Emerald Isle is a tourist destination that delights and inspires. With its variety, superb scenery, and endearing charm, it is little wonder Ireland is a favorite vacation site.

Everybody knows that customer service isn’t exactly on the list of priorities when it comes to airlines. However, many passengers still end up being surprised about the fact that they regularly book more passengers than they can actually handle. This is most apparent during peak seasons in which they’ll resort to booking as much as 20 more passengers over the actual capacity of their aircraft.
This is what most likely happened should you find yourself being bumped yourself after arriving at the airport in such a hurry. Airlines would most likely offer you the nicest terms possible but it is indeed disturbing to find that such practices remain relatively unchecked.
What every passenger ought to know though is that there are appropriate sanctions imposed on airlines for putting passengers in such situations and everyone will do well to educate themselves about such sanctions should they find themselves facing such a predicament which can get pretty serious especially if your trip is time-sensitive such as business meetings and conventions.
Airlines typically issue an announcement over the intercom first before ending up bumping anyone. Should there be volunteers then this said predicament can be easily sorted out.
It’s a rare occurrence though that you would actually find anyone willing to volunteer to such a thing without any good reason. Thus do not count on this to possibly bail you out of being bumped although it does sometimes happen and allow the airlines to sort out inconveniences.
Now a good question that you should ask should you find yourself being bumped is what these airlines actually owe to an inconvenienced passenger such as yourself. It’s basically like this; if the airline somehow manages to ensure your arrival within a two hour time frame starting from your original arrival time based on our initial booking, the airlines owes you a maximum value of $400 dollars in a one way ticket.
Should it take the airlines more than two hours to get you to your original destination starting from your original time of arrival then you are within your rights to demand that they provide you with a ticket valued at $800.
This value for a ticket is typically sufficient to get you flying in a first-class accommodation. Thus if you find yourself in such a situation then it would certainly help to know that you can be justly compensated for it by being able to fly in style.

Choosing where you learn to fly is a challenge. Without flying experience you may not appreciate what is and isn’t important. The choice is likely based on faulty knowledge.
When I began comparing schools I looked at three things: price, time and ground school. I didn’t want to pay too much. I wanted to get licensed as soon as possible. I wanted convenient times and locations for ground school.
With hindsight there was only one that turned out to matter. It was ground school. Time and price paled in comparison.
Ground school will teach you what you need to pass the written exam. There are different options available. You can take it online, one on one or in a classroom setting.
Location can be on or off airport and they can be offered during the day or evening. If you’re a mature student with a full-time job an off airport night time class can be very advantageous. On the other hand, if you’re young and can devote full days throughout the week to learning to fly then an on airport daytime setting is likely more practical.
It’s best to avoid an online ground-school. The degree of complexity in the material is too much for a web based course. A course taught by a pilot with lots of experience is much better
When it comes to text books there are different options. The ground school will give you the basics. There are supplemental printed materials that you can use. You can find these at aviation supply stores or your ground school.
You can add to your education through the internet. There are pod casts put out by flight instructors. There are also online study guides. Some are just for the student license exam. Others are for the whole course.
To sum it up, you can, without much practical flying experience, pick a good flying school based on the ground school options it offers. Location and times that work for you are very important – attendance helps you learn. Good teachers who have actual flying and teaching experience are superior to any online course.

I’m learning to fly so I can do more moose hunting. I like flying, and I like the backcountry, and I like hunting moose. It’s a natural fit. I’ve wanted to do it for a very long time.
My weapon of choice is a pre-64 Featherlite. That’s a Winchester Model 70, and mine’s in a .308. My dad got it from my uncle back in 1965, so it’s got some history. I inherited it almost 20 years ago.
It’s a good firearm, and it came with a great scope for the time. It’s a Bushnell 4x Scope Chief. The thing is, scope technology has progressed a lot since 1965. Scopes today have better optics and magnification. They also zoom, typically from 3x to 9x.
During the past three hunting seasons I’ve seen lot’s of moose. Three were at long range. One I shot, and two I let go. I think I could have gotten both of the ones I passed up. However, I think that before I could take those shots I would need a range finder and a higher power scope. With that in mind I recently purchased a new scope for the old rifle.
The new scope is also a Bushnell. However, instead of being a Scope Chief it is an Elite. Instead of being a 4 power single range scope, it’s a 3x-10x, meaning it can magnify over a range from three times to ten times.
Comparing scopes isn’t easy for the uninitiated. The sales staff let me look through lots of them, but couldn’t really explain why triple the cost was warranted. Obviously spending more money gets you a better product, but without knowing exactly what you’re getting it doesn’t instill a lot of confidence.
Mounting he scope would have cost me $100. There was no way I was throwing that money away without a good reason. It didn’t look that hard to mount a scope, so I decided I’d do it myself. Besides, I like being well acquainted with all aspects of my gear.
Changing one scope for another can be very easy. In this case I use the same mounts, and only change the rings. The result is that all I’m doing is undoing screws.
The scope is attached to the rifle with a combination of rails, bases and rings. The rails are screwed to the receiver. The rings attach to the bases by a system of hooks and screw compression. The bases slide onto the rails and are cinched tight by screws.
The swap scopes you can use the same rails. However, you may have to change either the rings or the bases. In fact, sometimes you have to change both. In my case that’s what happened. The new scope is shorter, and so it needed new bases. The new bases allow the scope to slide forward and back. The old bases didn’t allow for any adjustment.
It was a quick job. Two screws secured the bases to the rails. Then, four more secured the rings to the bases. The scope is sandwiched between the rings and the bases. Next step? Sighting in.
It’s just that straightforward. As long as you’re using the same rails you just screw the scope on and off. Then load up the airplane and go hunting someplace where other guys never get to go.
If you want to learn to fly you’ll need to study the PSTAR. This is very important for bush pilot training. You can find out more at www.bushpilotintraining.com.

Pilots often use the phrase “fly by the numbers”, and trust me, in aviation there can be a lot of numbers. One group of basic numbers are the V-speeds. V-speeds are standard speeds that are important for precision flight, and by precision flight I don’t mean some sort of formation flying – I mean the type of basic flying you do every time you fly. These are speeds you really should know, and in fact, my instructor required that I know them before he’d let me solo.
There are numerous V rates of speed, not to mention that a lot more for many aeroplanes than you’ll find for others. As an example, there exists one rate referred to as VLE, that is actually the highest speed a person may fly with the landing equipment extended. That rate only pertains to airplanes with retractable landing equipment. I’ve have a fixed gear Cessna C-150L, consequently the plane doesn’t have a VLE.
The 1st V-speed is VR, or rotation rate. Rotation speed will be the particular velocity where, when you’re moving down the runway upon take-off, you tug back upon the yoke and depart the ground. A 150 rotates at 55 miles-per-hour (plus it gets there pretty fast – you apply full power, check your gauges and you’re pretty much there).
Once you’ve taken off it is important to land, which will require slowing down as much as possible while you are nevertheless maintaining management plus flying. That brings up the second V-speed – the stall speed (VS). Stalling will be whenever the airplane no longer has sufficient lift to be able to continue to keep it flying.
There’s no less than a couple of stall speeds – flaps all the way up as well as flaps down. Flaps right down provides much more lift, as a result a lower stall rate. In my 150 the VS is 48 mph, meaning that with full flaps it will fly as slow as 48 mph at a gross weight of 1600 pounds before it stalls. Although landing at a slow speed is easier on the airplane, you still need some airspeed to maintain control. I actually land closer to 65-70 mph airspeed.
The third V-speed is VS1, or clean stall speed. This is the stall speed at gross weight, but with flaps up. Flaps up is clean, flaps down is dirty. VS1 is 54 mph.
When you want to land you have to slow down (there’s an old saying “slow down to go down”). One way to do that is to reduce power, raise the nose of the airplane, and apply flaps. The amount that you apply can vary, but what you can’t do is apply flaps at too high a speed. Too much airspeed and you’ll damage the flaps. That brings us to the fourth V-speed, VFE, or maximum flap extended speed. On the airspeed indicator a white line begins below this speed, so its easy to see when you’re in safe flap range. VFE for my 150 is 100 mph.
VC is cruising speed, and that comes in at between 120 and 123 mph. The the maximum speed at which you can use abrupt control travel, or the design maneuvering speed is called VA, and that’s a little bit lower, coming in at 109 mph.
Its important to understand that you can get a 150 going pretty fast, and pretty quickly. That can happen in a descent, especially a nose down descent. It’s not extremely dangerous if you keep your eye on it, but it is important to keep in mind. This speed, which the manufacturer advises that you never exceed, is called (of course), the VNE. Although I’ve said it can happen quickly I have to admit I’ve never gotten close, because the VNE in the Cessna C-150 is 164 mph. However, speed does climb pretty quickly in a nose down attitude, so, as I said, its something to remember and keep an eye on.
Two V-speeds come up in relation to climbing. Normal climbs are performed at between 75 and 85 mph with no flaps. This is best for cooling the engine (or more to the point, keeping it cool). We could say that the best rate of climb, VY, comes in at 77 mph.
There is another way to think about it as well. VY is the fastest climb rate in terms of time. In other words, at VY you’ll rise more feet per minute than you will at the second V-speed for climbing, VX, or best angle of climb. Best angle of climb is a measurement of how much you climb in relation to how far you travel across the ground. Its slower, about 69 mph, so you climb slower, but you don’t have to travel as far across the ground to get there. Obviously its helpful to know this speed if you’re concerned about clearing obstacles at the end of the runway.
Its interesting to note that VY decreases with altitude gain, while VX increase with altitude gain, becoming equal at the aircraft’s service ceiling, which in the C-150 is 13,000.
The last of the basic V-speeds is VBG, or best glide speed. This is important in the unlikely event that you experience an engine failure, or the likely event that an instructor throws a simulated power failure at you. You have to put the aircraft into the best power off glide speed, which is the speed that will allow the plane to glide the longest amount of distance, so that you can find an airstrip, make it back to the mainland or find somewhere acceptable to put the plane down.
If you want to learn to fly you’ll need to study the PSTAR. This is very important for bush pilot training. You can find out more at www.bushpilotintraining.com.

An alternative choice is usually to sign up with your preferred air carriers for email alerts or newsletters, which means you will almost always be conscious of the latest offers. Because the cost of aviation keeps rising because of increased fuel costs, airlines will be hard pressed, yet nobody really wants to go unfilled positions and lost revenue. So keep providing cheaper flights. Actually, all low-fare transport now the bar for reasonable tickets and traditional airlines frequently have to match the low prices.
Buying cheapest flight tickets from consolidators are another choice, like purchasing tickets in bulk and sell them at a low price to the airlines can accommodate up to full. You’ll find ticket consolidators in the travel section or online journal. Utilizing a consolidator ticket, you’ll be able to select between 10 and 70% or more of the retail publicized airline fares.
I don’t do a lot of airline travel however, if I happen to go someplace I try to use the best from what I know of the travel industry and also the on the net tools that have grown around it to get the best savings on my airfare.
However there’s no simple source for the cheapest flight tickets just because a wide range of factors impact the price. The ticket pricing depends on your departure/destination airport, airline, and duration of travel and there’s no single tool that can show you the total picture.
Before I get to the tools part let me first list some general tips that apply when you want to save on air tickets.
Buy a package – choosing a hotel room with an air ticket can frequently save you a lot. And also this brings extra revenue to the booking agencies and if someone happens to use one you’ll be reminded about the savings not once Be flexible with dates – plus/minus eventually can produce a big difference with flights. Once I saved around $300 on a ticket to Europe by moving the departure date from June 1 to May 31.
Research nearby airports – many services offer an alternative which will let you consist of to your search the capturing airports around your departure/destination point. This may help you reduce the price. Choose extra stops – non-stop flights are usually the most expensive and if you might have time at the hands consider a connecting flight rather.
